I'd say it's a no brainer. It's when Rare left Nintendo. That pretty much killed the DK series, and cancelled three separate DK games. I miss Rare.

That doesn't count, because getting all the way to the "final" final boss fight wasn't worth it in DKC3. DKC2 yes. DKC3, not even close.
