Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!

It would be like Super Mario Bros. 4 without Bowser You have clearly never played Super Mario Bros. 2, then, since it doesn't have Bowser. So, by your logic, it's bad because it's different. Makes a lot of sense. So DKCR and DKC:TF don't have Kremlings. This "flaw" (I wouldn't call it tha...

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!

Earler today, I went to a Best Buy that featured a demo of DKC:TF, and I was able to play it for five minutes. (The line that I waited in was ridiculously long, by the way -- I waited for two hours!) The first thing that I will say is that the demo only used the Wiimote/Nunchuk, just like DKCR. I do...

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!

Whoa, in the first new video (in the first post), the part starting at 1:05 definitely reminds me of Chase from DKC3 GBA. I wasn't expecting that. Awesome that Wise is subtly remxing parts of past songs into new ones! (Though this isn't the first time this has occurred, either :P)

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!

I also hope this game is as difficult as DKCR. After playing DKCR, then subsequently playing the previous games, they feel too easy now. I also got used to the motion controls after a while -- and from what I heard about DKCR 3D's ridiculous button mapping (pressing R to grab, seriously?), I would a...

Re: Animal Friends

Seconded with Enguarde. He's always been my favorite animal, partly because swimming is a lot easier with him. And he looks so cool! Seeing him completely absent in DKCR was odd to say the least -- the only other game where Enguarde was missing was DKL. I'd also like to see Winky make a return. He o...

Donkey Kong Land III commercials

In light of a recent video with footage of a prototype version of DKL2 , I decided to look for some commercials of various DKL games on YouTube. And, I found a couple interesting ones of DKL3. The first one is this Dutch commercial. I actually discovered this one years ago, but I had forgotten about...

Re: Donkey Kong Country 3 Beta Research & Discussion Topic

I think splitting the topic into three smaller topics (for DKC3, DKL3, and DKL2) would be a good idea, especially when most people looking into this topic are mainly interested in DKC3.

While I can understand where people would prefer button controls, I wouldn't buy the game again just for that. A couple of updates: 1. In DKC1 North American v1.1, the Star Barrel in Coral Capers is in the same place as it is in v1.0 (i.e., it's lower than some other versions). It's v1.2 that made the change to raise it by 10 pixels. (I haven't checked any other version here.) 2. In DKC3, this glitch was par...

Odd PFLOYD string in DKL...

No, I'm not making this up. At ROM offset 0x6F7A (in both the English and Japanese versions of Donkey Kong Land), you can find a PFLOYD string. It's followed by four other bytes, 00 00 05 03, and this ten-byte string is copied to AA00-AA09, AA40-AA49, and AA80-AA89 in RAM, for each of the three save...
