Re: Mattrizzle's DKC Boss Run Hacks (previously DKC: Boss Blitz)

I have a couple of suggestions for any possible future versions of the DKC - Boss Blitz and perhaps for the DKC2 one: 1. Since a lot of people seem to be trying to get their best times on specific bosses, perhaps you could create a secondary timer that shows how much time you've spent on the current...

Re: Hey! I liked these games!

I have to agree that DKL1's controls were pretty bad. Sure, it had new levels, worlds, and enemies, but all of that new-fangled stuff gets bogged down when you have a hard time experiencing it without dying due to cheap controls. There was an unusual, overly-weighted feel to the physics in DKL, in t...

I always found those suckers to be a pain too, although I never really thought much of poor hit detection until you brought it up. Re: DKC SNES Trilogy: Differences between revisions

I have something to contribute that may shed some light on how SNES games were released. I've been fiddling around a bit with a hex editor on a game called Mr. Nutz for the SNES. Re: Animal Buddy Stuff

These are three conditions I can think of that would be considered to determine whether a character is an individual or a species: 1. How many times we see this character appear in a single stage/level. 2. How many instances of the character appear on screen at once. 3. If the character(s) has an of...

Re: DKC SNES Trilogy: Differences between revisions

There are some differences with K. Rool in DKC (may be worth looking into for other bosses): 1. In the NTSC versions, after K. Rool stops dropping cannon balls, he'll just stand there for a bit before throwing his crown. However, in the PAL versions, he'll throw the crown immediatly. 2. In the Japan...

There really is no way to conclusively end this issue, since it would depend on what one would consider canon. Re: DKC SNES Trilogy: Differences between revisions

Two more differences between the versions of DKC3: 1. When you start a new data, the game asks you to input your name. If you play a '1P Game', it'll only ask you for one name, and if you play it in either '2P Team' or '2P Contest', it'll ask you for two names, for each player. If you leave the name...

Playing as both Kongs (Japanese Only)

In the Japanese version of DKC, sometimes the Manky Kongs require two jumps/cartwheels from Diddy in order to defeat them. As far as game mechanics go, the Krumple is pretty much DKC3's version of the Krusha, and even though Kruncha kinda filled that role in DKC2, he was quite a bit different (no heavy Kongs, and he got mad.) I've noticed that in most games, when something is removed from one installment of the series, it tends to never be brought back in later sequels. DKL: Should we consider this series canon?
