Re: DKC 3D Modeling/Animation Project

That does look much better! But now you'll have to do the red/orange feathers to match so he doesn't look like he has fingers. :P

Re: DKC 3D Modeling/Animation Project

Looking at the official model, I'd say try shortening his beak a tad and making his bottom "lip" a bit thicker. Then make the eyelid a straight line all the way around the eye. As-is, your model has his eyes bulging out a bit.

Re: DKC-Related Custom Animations

I think the electric wires would be good for the steel girder/scaffolding stages too. Maybe make some telephone poles to go with the theme, haha.

I like your clay model conversion, but I'm having some trouble reading what it's supposed to be. It's very tiny. The Duck float is a great touch though.

Re: Custom/Edited Sprites

I love the idea of a tire factory. Loads of conveyor belts (does any game have those?) and those lava pits from the factory stages in DKC3. There could be a new kind of enemy that is a Knocka or Klobber in a stack of tires who bounces you around and can't be killed.

Re: Donkey Kong Country 4: The Kongs Return

A few ideas: -Levels that require you to use certain Kongs. For example, a scale is at the beginning of the stage with a respawning DK barrel. Only when you've selected the right Kongs (DK and Kiddy, for example) will the weight be enough to allow you to enter the stage. This could also be done with...

Re: Donkey Kong Country 4: The Kongs Return

Just saw the videos of the first few areas on Youtube, and while they're mostly impressive, they strike me as having a really steep learning curve. Some of those puzzles and obstacles should be reserved for much later worlds, not the first few levels. The method for getting the bonuses is a little b...

He's not gaining enough ground for how much his legs are moving.
Aside from that, I can't really tell how the running animation looks because the video is so short. If you could just have him running in place for 30 seconds or something we could probably give you a better critique.

Re: What would you like to see created in 3D

We sure do! If some of the awesome modelers here would submit we'd be more than happy to accept!

My idea for a model is a lava-based Kremling (Think Blarrg from Mario World). I'm trying to think of new enemies, so maybe I'll add to this list later.

The bottom two look pretty good, but the top two aren't quite there yet. They look like a stretched sprite and a sprite that used to be 8-bit. Is there any other art you can adapt to it?

Re: Donkey Kong Country 4: The Kongs Return

Have you guys given much thought to themeing the worlds? For example, in the first game, the world themes were: Jungle, Caves, Forest, Ice, Caves In 2, it was clearer: Pirate ship, Volcano, Swamp, Theme Park, Haunted, Castle This doesn't mean you can't mix it up by throwing in other themed levels. Hahaha, he's so happy! Here's a weird question: Have you considered doing DK? There are a lot of later sprites that DK doesn't have because he wasn't in the games that use them. A DK model would make it much easier.

Re: Donkey Kong Country 4: The Kongs Return

I just thought of a fun object; Tire Swing. It's a tire attached to a vine that swings back and forth. If it hits the Kongs or enemies, they are bounced away in the opposite direction. The Tire Swing could swing back and forth over pits or near spikes.

Re: Donkey Kong Country 4: The Kongs Return

This makes me think that there should be at least one level where there is a time trial. Diddy would be the ideal choice.

What if while Diddy rides DK, hidden items are unearthed (As if you were using DK's ground slap) and with Kiddy, you can skip over water?

This is coming along incredibly well! My only suggestion (though it may be too late now...) would be to make his socks longer. His feet are the right size, but if you look at his sprites, the "sock" part goes on for a bit. He even plays with it in his idle.
