Re: Dreaming about DKC

While I'm sure I've had many dreams about the series over the years, most of them have not stuck with me. I have had one very vivid recurring dream about the original DKC. In it I'm playing through a slightly different version of Jungle Hijinxs, which features more pits between the bonuses and the e...

Re: DELTA General Discussion Topic

Over a decade later, and you're still plugging away at this. I very much admire and appreciate all of the effort you've put into this, despite my being so tech-illiterate that 90% of it goes right over my head. As for Delta moving from being free to being a paid project, I don't see how anybody coul...

Re: DKC Atlas Level Mapping Project

A hearty Kongratulations to you, Qyzbud, for managing to finish this on time. I look forward to going through all of these later tonight, as I play through the game. It might be fun to try uncovering all the hidden banana bunches, with your maps providing a great checklist. Happy twentieth birthday,...

Your Gnawty is looking nice! I think you've done a good job of making it look like he's gone through the rain.

Re: DKC Atlas Level Mapping Project

The animated Zingers and jumping Kritters in Bouncy Bonanza are truly a sight to behold, bravo! Speaking of animated enemies, I don't believe I had ever noticed previously that Krash only moves in his cart when riding on flat tracks. It really feels like I'm learning something new every day from thi...

Re: DKC 3D Modeling/Animation Project

Looking good, Cyclone! The leaves are nearly perfect at this point, and Donkey's movements seem vastly improved. I look forward to seeing more. Keep up the amazing work!

Re: Avatar and Signature guidelines/discussion

In light of my recent return and resolve to resume regular posting, I've decided I should probably choose an avatar. While there's nothing wrong with those which are currently available, my long absence has made it a little difficult to know which of them are currently in use. I would make my own, a...

Re: DKC Atlas Level Mapping Project

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I have to say I'm impressed with Tompa's bonus demonstration. Almost twenty years have gone by, and I never knew it was possible to gather all three prizes in that kind of bonus room. I honestly shouldn't be surprised; learning little secrets like that was ...

Re: DKC Atlas Level Mapping Project

The larger world map looks quite nice, and I like it better with the second entrance to Reptile Rumble removed. I like the idea of having the individual level names appear, and using exclamation points to designate levels with all bonus rooms added would be a nice game accurate touch. Coral Capers i...

Re: DKC Atlas Level Mapping Project

I really like the world map as an option for navigating between individual levels. I particularly like the use of the Kong and Kremling heads to designate which maps have been finished. I agree that the world map could stand to be bigger, but not a bad start for a new feature.

Re: So, what did you think of this game?

What do I think about Tropical Freeze? Well, for the first time since 1995 I have a new favorite video game. I think that, in and of itself, says quite a bit. Without writing a novel, I'll try to elaborate a little on why I love the game so much. The music has definitely always been a major element ...

Re: The Time Attack & Leaderboard thread

I've quite enjoyed this feature of the game. I'm nowhere near being a world record holder, but I have achieved at least gold on every level. I'm now working on getting shiny gold heart runs on every level with the default Kong. So far I've conquered all but two levels in the first world, as well as ...

Re: DKC Atlas Level Mapping Project

I haven't posted here in years, but considering the volume of updates this project is receiving, I feel compelled to drop in and share my opinion. The updated maps are looking amazing, Qyzbud! I remember staring for hours at the level layouts in the old player's guides as a child, and this takes tha...

Re: Link in DKC3... Why?

Well, considering his cameo in DKC2 showed him losing the Video Game Hero contest, perhaps he was searching for more DK coins to raise his rank. Nobody likes being told that Yoshi is a better hero than they are.

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Dance Remix Album

Thank you for sharing this! I have not listened to many video game soundtrack remixes before, but this album has made it clear that I should. I felt the first track opened up the whole thing in an epic fashion, and there was a wonderful sense of flow through the whole thing. I especially liked your ...

Re: Do you think Rare was full of DK Arcade fans?

I've thought of a couple more possible pieces of evidence for this theory:
- The klaptraps, klampons, and krimps from the DKC trilogy are quite similar to the snapjaws from DK Jr.
-This one is a stretch, but the plots of two games of both trilogies involve having to rescue kidnapped friends.

Re: Smash Bros. 4: What do you want/expect?

I think Ridley would be an awesome character, but I must agree that it is unlikely to happen. I don't feel that shrinking him would be a downgrade. In the original Metroid, (NES/virtual console), he is only slightly bigger than Samus. The difference is about the same as that between Mario and Bowser...

Re: Do you think Rare was full of DK Arcade fans?

I agree with you, somebody at Rare definitely had an affinity for the original arcade game. In addition to your already impressive list of evidence, I note that the intro music from DKC was from the original, and Cranky appears atop the old construction site in the same intro.

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello, forum-goers! I am Jeeves, but you may call me DJ if you like. I have been playing the DKC trilogy since the first game came out when I was only six. I was mighty impressed at the time, and as my presence here suggests, I still love the games. I came across this wonderful site a few months ago...
