http://www.ign.com/articles/1999/12/01/dk-card-game-announced I take it these are the ones you're thinking of? I always liked them for the art style personally. Afraid I don't know how the game was played, though I'd be interested to know myself. Apparently it involved power, skill, and speed values...
Hm, Chunky for liar as his cowards belies his strength. I'd put Donkey and Cranky the same places EvangeliKong does. Leader, He's the leader of the bunch you know him well..., and Prophet. Funky's a real wild card could be solider, going off his weapon expertise in DK64 though it doesn't go with his...
Squirt always seemed an exception to that notion. To me it's the boss that represents nature, and mystery. Where Belcha, Bleak, KAOS are the experiments.
The sky's a vast improvement! Much less cloudy, and the sunsets in the other direction now. It lets the right half of the image compete better with the cabin and cliff. Agree with Qzy, the new ground is a hell of an improvement but, maybe a little too dull, or muted. Something to experiment with. Oh...
That rock face is gorgouis. Seriously with that texture, and the leaves casting their shadows, that side of the render really pops out to me. Since you asked, it fills out the picture alright but,the skyline is easily the most uninteresting part of the image to me. Other sections draw my at...
Ah, they mentioned that the bee would one day wreck the game. That must be what they were referring to. ;) I mean, I'm not one to recommend the use of emulators... but I wholeheartedly recommend the use of emulators. ;) Oh, I have no issue with emulators. However, I've managed to restrict myself for...
Yeah, I reached a point where I just didn't seem to be making progress beyond those levels, and that was when I was 8-9 hopping online for help wasn't a thing yet. Since then I've traded in Banjo, So, I can't go back, and plow through it.
Yep, frankly, learning about DK64's glitches only serve to make the game more fascinating for me. I have to concede Banjo's quality but, I'm still quite surprised at the lack of notably abusive glitches I'm seeing. and once they're passed Frosty Frolics and the Haunted level, they'll officially be f...
concerning glitches I imagine the estimated times 1 hour for DK64 versus 3 hours in Banjo is rather telling. But, I particularly enjoyed learning about how the Kongs speed up to compensate for lag.
Dad, his gf, and me opening presents, and cooking a delicious meal that will last all day, is the usual order of things. Now if only I'd go to sleep at a decent hour...
Hope you all have a merry Christmas, and happy holiday. ^.^
I agree with August on this K. Rool's vice was laziness, delegating the development over to incompetent underlings. Which admittedly is incompetent in his own right, but I would imagine if he had overseen the project himself it would of gone a lot smoother. Is the blunderbuss his invention? Never re...
You can actually see Funky's eyes in the very first Country His animation includes lifting up his shades, and mugging at the camera. In the Japanese one, he [Diddy] was voiced by a girl It's actually a common practice in animation for young boys to be voiced by women. Especially if it's a lengthy se...
Seems I've been spriting again. I continuation of the avatar/mugshot series. The whole batch in their original size. http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/5261/avatarsnewbatch.png Blown up: http://imageshack.us/a/img59/2053/sprkrusha.png http://imageshack.us/a/img72/7752/sprklump.png http://imageshack....
Spearhead from Space, and part of Carnival of Monsters as well as The Three Doctors. Spearhead kind of bored me. Which has been the common problem for me, and his stuff. Hm, maybe I'll have better luck if I hunt down a serial involving the Master. So far I'd probably say City of Death, and The Deadl...
Time Crash was exactly what I was thinking. Something like that again would be a nice, and Tom's doing radio plays for Doctor Who last I heard. And really, most of Two's shtick was his banter with Three. Yeah, but Pertwee was the straight man to Troughton, and personally haven't seen much in Three's...
The scarf's neat. Glad you agree, seems like most people see him as the "cranky" doctor or, something, but all I've seen of him is this cunning, thoughtful old man. Yeah, his minimal appearances were do to health issues, I'm afraid. I remember thinking "The Three Doctors", Harnel...
Oh, can't help you there I was hooked as of last year. Seems one can't simply browse Tumblr, and not "know who". Harnell for me. (I'm a sucker for grandfather figures) Though it's a toss up between him and the fourth.
Man, i love Mythology. As do I. Though I don't anything about the Roman pantheon, except the planets are all named after them. Saturn, the Roman mythological King of the Titans, also known in Greek mythology as Kronos, father to Zeus, known in Roman mythology as Jupiter. By request of his mother Ga...
Of course! It (was) Saturday, and it is December, so, Saturn is the logical choice. Silly me. Hm, can't say I approve of his temple doubling as a treasury but, I like the Free Speech, and drinks. Do you think this, http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/a/ae/DiddyKong_MSS.jpg/180px-DiddyKong_MSS.jpg ...
I should probably ask this at the Yoyo games community but, before I start signing up for yet another account, I thought I'd resurrect this topic. I've been working on recreating Dragon Warrior (or Dragon Quest if you prefer) for a student project, and I'm looking to make a system so the player can ...
While I don't think there's any practical way to explain Kongo Bongo, a tropical island with perfectly rational geography, morphing into DK Island. That's probably as good an explanation as I'm going to hear for a very long time. Does stump out this image I have of a eccentric architect cousin of th...
He looks brilliant! Really your work looks top quality to me.
I don't have much of an eye for critique, but the tail does stick out to me. It's like the shadow is lending it this reddish glow. Someone like to back me up this, or is it just me?
Yeah, while I'm firmly one of DK64's fans, it does slightly erk me that some level intros devolve into throw away gags. Even if not a playable Krusha, I could see the Kongs going through some mini game to free the Kasplat. Possibly to get one of the last blueprints. On the other hand I don't think t...
Edited from Chunky was what I meant to imply. Certainly wasn't suggesting adding Krusha to the Kong's family tree . That would be an interesting theory.I was thinking along the lines of a boss, but, of course, bosses in this game are nothing like the playable characters. Krusha would have to g...
Interesting! Particularly enjoy seeing all the things Krusha can do. I'm assuming him borrowing so much from Chunky would imply some relation between the two.
Rumored? Oh, the it's confirmed for 3DS. Damn, now I'm hoping they develop a Wii U version. Haven't seen much that personally interests me yet. I'm sure they're down the line, Smash Bros. hasn't failed to hook me yet but, I see No reason to be an early adopter this gen.
Happy to say there's finally a new used game store in town, 2nd & Charles. (well technally everything they sale is used) I'm disapponted they "ate" the Books-a-MIllion but, already I've snapped up some noteworthy titles like Parasite Eve, and Shenmue from them.
Ive had level ideas inside me over Lent just waiting to burst out! Snowy Mainbrace Just like a mainbrace level from DKC covered in snow and has slippery mainbraces with creatures lurking atop to catch you off guard! This archetype would also have a snowfall effect, wind and a winter sky background!...
This could go Storyline/Continuity I suppose but, since I'd like to spread out to include his character in the cartoon, it probably fits better here. So anyway I thought why not have a topic devoted to discussing everybody's favorite reptilian dictator? A 'K. Rool appreciation topic' of sorts. What'...
I'm almost positive they're in colour, however the pictures always fogged up when I look back on them. I can remember the basic plots of them fairly well but, the image is literally clouded in fog.
