This is perhaps my favorite thing. This is truly amazing. My way, of course, was a lot more primitive than yours and less robust. Mine only worked on a single tile at a time. Wow. Just wow.

My only guess as to why that would happen is accidentally playing with some RAM frozen. Are you 100% certain RAM is untouched?
