Re: Banjo is Back!

I would be very interested in seeing a comparison video of Banjo-Kazooie and Nuts and Bolts, when the game's been released. You could build the smallest vehicle you could (for nimble movement), then stick on parts to replicate the old Banjo's actions and abilities as best you can. Then run the N64's...

Re: Wario Land Shake

Looks great. The artwork seems like it's come right from the golden age of 2D platforming in the 90's!

Bodes well for a sidescrolling return of Donkey Kong Country, I hope... ;)

Re: Banjo is Back!

Me too. The visuals still carry that Banjo-Kazooie charm, as do the characters. Banjo's still going to be dopey (at least, he still looks like a lumbering dope), Kazooie, we're told, is going to make it clear she's not impressed her abilities have been shifted to an outside source, and Grunty's stil...

Re: Banjo is Back!

Let's just enjoy the game when it comes out. ;) If it's pants, I'll probably be wishing they had re-used the classic platforming formula. But if it blows my socks off; man, will I be ever glad they changed things up. It's been 8 years since the last main console Banjo; that's similar to the gap the ...

Re: Banjo is Back!

[...]ignoring or rewriting virtually everything it stood for. By this, I'm assuming you mean Kazooie lending Banjo a hand when he needed it - two characters working together? And that's a fair point; I understand where you're coming from. But nearly every move these two had is still there, except d...

Re: Banjo is Back!

Whether you like Nuts and Bolts or not, I'd like to think of this as a new lease of life for Banjo. If they'd have bolted ( ;) ) a gimmick onto a 10 year old formula, chances are it still would have felt dated, and a been-there-done-that affair. How many times have you seen people complaining about ...

Re: Banjo is Back!

People are so divided over this game, but I love what Rare's doing with Banjo! Banjo and Kazooie might not operate as that same indestructable unit they were in both N64 Banjo games, but their abilities have now been stuffed into these vehicles, so I'm still happy. And there's raised platforms dotte...

Re: Banjo is Back!

Lookin' nice. Really nice graphical style they've gone for; I knew it'd look nice, but not that nice. I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of. Ah! Microsoft Paint! Only seven more days before the big reveal... ...the wait is killing me! Me too, dude. I was expecting to see this game at ...

Re: Will There Ever Be Another...

There's nothing more I'd want on the Wii than a Donkey Kong adventure that mixes the 3D gameplay of DK64 and 2D gameplay of DKC, then updates them both with gorgeous graphics, and Wii pointer stuff. Something that has that same wonderful jungle ambience that the original Donkey Kong Country had (the...

Re: Mario Kart Wii

I'm really enjoying it as well! The wheel is pretty good fun - although I find it's not as accurate as I'd like on the more twisty tracks. Sometimes I tilt the remote as far left as I can, but I end up tilting upwards as well in an attempt to clear a corner - and because I'm tilting it in an awkward...

Re: Banjo is Back!

Snowflake design, whoo! :D I guess you could always do a mockup map, and just detail each individual part of it, and every puzzle you'd encounter. ;) Oh, and another example of how the second one might work; you might come across a drawing of a pond of the wall, but it'd look empty. Above it would b...

Banjo is Back!

I guess that would make for a cool name for the next Banjo, wouldn't it? ;) The game's possibly going to be revealed soon, so what are you expecting, given the hints and teaser trailer and website? I see two possible things happening: - The game is based entirely in Spiral Mountain, with a landscape...

Re: Games with awesome jungle areas

Sorry dude; I didn't realise I couldn't post direct links to the screenshots.

But those Crysis jungles do look mindblowing. You can almost feel the moisture and heat of the rainforests. Like when you go into a butterfly house!

Technology has come so far over the last ten years.

Re: Games with awesome jungle areas

I definately, definately think Uncharted's jungle scenery is the nicest. That look would be ideal for a Donkey Kong adventure. http://images.gamersyde.com/gallery/public/5806/1065_0001.jpg - Add Donkey Kong to this one, and you're done! And of course, Crysis looks damn gorgeous. I know this isn't ju...

Re: New Zelda: Seasons in the Windows

Yes, sorry! Getting my words mixed up again. I'd like something more like Ico in atmosphere. A ghostly, ethereal style of cel-shading, if they can do it. There were a couple of moments at the end of Majora's Mask that are exactly what I'm meaning. I know you've not played it, Qyzbud, but there's a b...

Re: New Zelda: Seasons in the Windows

Okami's style was very pretty and fitting for the game's style; although it was a little hard on the eyes sometimes. Things blurred and made it difficult to pick details out because of the shimmering dark brushstrokes that sometimes 'bled' into each other. The colours looked washed-out a lot too, bu...

Re: Random Video Game History: the Dreamcast

I've no idea how much money Sega make from their releases on the other consoles, but I definately think their characters and 'franchises' are perfectly suited for Nintendo platforms. Maybe one thing that's helped erode Sega's image these past few years is that they're developing for multiple platfor...

Re: Random Video Game History: the Dreamcast

Ah, right. :) I can't ever see Sega re-entering the console market unless there was a big opening, giving them a chance to edge back in. Or if EA ever managed to purchase Sega, I could see EA releasing a console under the Sega moniker. Best scenario would be Nintendo snapping them up and restructuri...

Re: Random Video Game History: the Dreamcast

Great article, Jomingo! I think the VMU should've focused more on being a portable games console; for downloading minigames to play whilst your away from the console. And as an incentive, any games you scored points on in the handheld games could've aided you in the main quest. They could've even ma...

Re: New Zelda: Seasons in the Windows

Thanks for the feedback, Jomingo! I love the idea of being able to use a paintbrush! You could colour parts in with it by selecting colours, and painting within weird transparent outlines of scenery. The main badguy could have similar powers to you, too. I think'd be cool if the overworld could chan...

New Zelda: Seasons in the Windows

Made you look! ;) That's not the real name, but that's probably what I'd like to call the fan Zelda I've been thinking about. Things I'd like to see in the new Wii Zelda are: - No linearity. In TP, it was frustrating being stopped at barriers (especially at the start of the game) when you just wante...

Re: Okami

The music's very oriental in feel, isn't it? Some of the nicest music I've ever heard in a game - will definately look forward to the music player opening up at the end! I've been told there's a beta video of the game hidden in there, too. Shows it with non-cel-shaded visuals. Have you seen it? If s...

Re: Smash 4 roster ideas

I've just had this weird thought of Squitter standing on two feet, just so he can strike a fighting pose like the other characters. Plus he'd have six arms to do battle with! I do like the thought of having an animal buddy in there as a proper playable character, though. It'd sort of fill the 'barmy...

Re: Okami

I'm about a third of the way through in the PS2 version, and have really enjoyed it up to now. Structurally, it feels like the 3D Zelda games (overworld, then solve puzzles in dungeons), but stylistically it feels a lot different. Watching everything burst into colour is great, and the music is gorg...
