E3 2010 Discussion

I'm surprised no one's started this yet... it's almost upon us! What are you all hoping to see? Personally, I don't think it would be that much of a stretch for Donkey Kong to show up in some way. :P

And Pikmin 3 ftw.

All I can say is: It needs more Donkey Kong, no exceptions.

Also, Pikmin 3 should be relatively awesome. 8-)

Agreed, on both parts. Last year we mainly had three big surprises from Nintendo: New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Galaxy 2, and Other M. We already know about the new Zelda, Pikmin, and 3DS, so there has to be something up Nintendo's sleeves that they haven't shown us... And I hope to Raptor Jesus that it's DK.

I predict that we will see a good deal about Zelda, and Pikmin 3, but most of the show will be devoted to the 3DS (which might be renamed).

The 3DS's hardware will very likely have hardware comparable to the Wii itself. It also has a joystick and the top screen is a wide screen. They will show off an Animal Crossing game on it. Aside from the 3DS, we'll see Wii Party, some useless Wii Vitality Sensor game, the Conduit 2, and probably some past franchise we've not seen in a while. Kid Icarus, Starfox, Kirby, DK, F-zero, anyone of them could happen. Also, there will be a new Wii Menu update that adds a little more practical functionality to the dated Menu, including Flash support for the Wii Browser. Oh, and they will be showing a Rainbow of different colored Wii's, which you'll be able to buy before September. Green, Red, Blue, Pink, whatever floats your boat. Of course, different colored Wii motes/Nunchucks/Motion+ are a given if this scenario comes true.

As for Microsoft, I'm sure almost all of there show will be devoted to Natal (which I predict will be renamed to something else like Wave), and I'm predicting that Rare will show off 2 Natal titles. One will probably be a sort of 3 dimensional social networking space using the Avatars ala PSHome, and the other will be a sports or Olympic related game. Microsoft will also have Hulu for 360 as well as something regarding ESPN (which will have some big sports star on stage to unveil this), and perhaps some surprise like some on demand TV service or something. Also, Gears of War 3, Fable 3, and I highly doubt there will be a Slim 360. Oh, and Microsoft will probably have a Rock Band 3 demonstration with all 7 playing parts, but with a song that focuses on the Keyboard.

For Sony, I predict will we see equal parts Sony Move, 3D games, and mega sequels. First of all, there will be a good portion of time devoted to brand new Move specific titles. But unlike Microsoft's Natal they will also be giving full Move support to a great number of core games. Socom 4 already says they'll have both Move and Dualshock support, and I'm predicting that most if not all of their core first party titles will do the same. Killzone 3 is already confirmed for this fall and it'll be in 3D, but I'm thinking that most if not all the core first party titles they show will be in 3D too as a big surprise. We'll see Little Big Planet 2, Resistance 3 (I'm guessing a spring release date), and Infamous 2 that we know of, but what we don't know yet will be a new Ratchet and Clank, and Uncharted 3. Or, instead of Uncharted 3, I won't be surprised if Naughty Dog unveils a new IP, possibly a platformer. But aside from this we will almost certainly see whatever Sony has to answer to the 3DS. The successor to the PSP will definitely be there albeit in a very prototype-y form ala last year's Move unveiling.

So that's my predictions. Don't be surprised if most if not all of them come true, I did predict Project Natal years before it was unveiled.

Yeah, what I really NEED to come out of the show is a way to move Virtual Console games to another Wii... I was thinking about getting a black one (my current Wii is almost dying), but when I found out I'd be unable to play my hundreds of dollars worth of VC/WiiWare games on it, I declined. Nintendo needs to get with the times.

I think it would. At least for any kind of new DKC game. You're better off hoping another company will buy the franchise.

For Sony, I'm hoping for a disc based Fat Princess game.

I'm going to go out on a limb and put my so far good prediction accuracy on the line and say that we will see DK at E3 in one way or another. I'd be surprised not to see a new DK game be it MvsDK or a real game or a cameo game of some kind. He'll be there.

I'd love to see DK at E3 this year, but I think I've said that the past two years as well. (And hey, I haven't been on the forum in a while. Huzzah, I'm back!)

I'm expecting Zelda Wii, hoping for Pikmin 3, and just excited about anything else.

More or less, it should be good. I'm a bit stunned that Project Natal gets it's own conference. What, is 3 hours not good enough, Microsoft? Naw, I kid.

Good to hear good to hear :D We'll all be sittin' pretty when Retro unveils a DK game. And I feel that they'll stay more true to the DK-Rare formula then jungle beat. So, we should get excited =D.

Asides, Star Fox WII and F-ZERO WII is something I want to hear about. Here's hoping. Of course, Legend of Zelda is being announced and 3DS. And I have no doubt Icarus Wii is in the works as well.

Yes... I've also heard rumors (pretty sketchy ones) that there are actually several former Rare employees working at Retro. Coincidence? I think NOT!

Microsoft has renamed Natal to Kinect, and also announced a 360 slim.

I only watched around 15 minutes of the Microsoft showcase, did they discuss why they changed Natal's name, even though Kinect sounds better anyway?

No, but they demonstrated it quite a bit... and revealed a new Xbox 360.

And God damn, will SOMEONE here who's a member of the Donkey Kong Universe tell everyone that Tiptup Jr. says hi? :)

Microsoft's event was all in all very very suckish. Ubisoft's was extremely weird and they spent a lot of time on things that don't look like they deserved time. EA was ok. Nintendo's and Sony's are the main course I'm waiting for.

I was expecting Microsoft's conference to be a little... no... A LOT less sucky than that. It was just physically painful to watch.

Rayman: Origins looks pretty cool : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5sEfbZWmsw

Though, I was kinda sad about no beyond good and evil 2 :((((

EDIT: Though Assassin's creed: Brotherhood looks cool too.

Ubisoft pretty much is the best thing of E3 for me so far.

Was it worse than Sony's conference in 2006?

Nintendo's starting in 3 minutes..I'm not sure how high my expectations should be...

^^

This would be more accurate if I would have noticed the date on Gametrailers says 9 AM PST. I'm not PST. I got up 3 hours early and had 3 hours of sleep. Yay....

Hey, that's pretty cool. So looking back at my predictions, I was right on about half of what I said (which is pretty good because I said a lot). Some things were so spot on it's weird, while admittedly some were way off. I was right about Animal Crossing 3D, Natal getting renamed, Rare Sports, and some sports stars coming out to reveal ESPN on 360. Not a bad year for me.
