Not sure why.

Maybe the dark environments or the fact its much harder?

Those are two of the main reasons I love it so much. :D

Really, the bright screens were nice.

I like the dark weirdness and epicness of DKC2, because I like dark, weird, and epic things.

I must admit, I really liked the "flying kroc"

(saw it on a speed run)

I beat both DKC and DKC3 a while before I beat DKC2 (let alone got 102% in it).

But I really think it's a much more satisfying feeling after completing DKC2 in full. I loved DKC3 the most out of the three for a while - mostly out of nostalgia and beating it more times, but after I finally took the time to go through DKC2, I just loved it a whole lot more.

The dark theme of the game was really good, personally - the fact that everything was themed and wasn't so much a heap of bits and pieces thrown together in the way DKC3 was. The whole game was piratey. And how can you go wrong with Pirates? :P

Started playing this game and I'm a little past Hornet Hole. About 4 levels past it or something. Tough game, but I like it alot now that I play it. It feels so much more rewarding to beat a level.

I agree. Beating a level in DKC2 was more satisfying than in the other DKC's. Maybe because Diddy & Dixie played such rockin' music. ;)

Obviously, the levels were tougher in general, so there was also a bigger feeling of accomplishment, but I think the right use of music within a game makes a huge difference to how it feels to play it. DKC2's music had so much more power and emotion than the soundtracks of DKC and DKC3. All of the games had appropriate soundtracks, but I think DKC2's score really enhanced the feeling of adventure, and gave extra 'meaning' to the epic quest those little monkeys were on.

I love those little monkeys. :D

I ♥ them too.

I always air guitar when I complete a level

I totally agree, though I do prefer Diddy's than Dixie's Music at the end of a level.

Yeah I always thought it was dissapointing to beat a level in DKC3, and to have a boring little victory theme instead of the guitar/boombox.

I like Dixies more than Diddy's.

Yeah, the guitar is definately cooler. I always thought Diddy with his boombox makes him look like Funky's son.

Diddy's a GANGSTA, man. Don't mess with him. ;)

Maybe he is Funky's son. Just a thought.

Oh, I already said that. Actually, I said that like a million times in the Kong Family thread.

I really don't think he's Funky's son. Rare never decided on Diddy's relatives. Maybe he came in a meteor that fell to Earth. :? *fake space wail* o_O

I loved this game though it's soundtrack was lacking next to DKC's off topic: I'm listening to gang plank galleon music right now. On topic: while I agree that Dixie's guitar is cooler then the boom box nothing beats Diddy's play control.

I love this game so much. The music, the levels, the monkeys. This game is absolutely beautiful. tears come to my eyes everytime I listen to the game. And this one holds so many memories for me. With my DKC being stolen, and never really playing DKC3 all that much, this was the one I played the most. A simply beautiful game. ;)

This game is great, I heard it has VERY good graphics for 1995. I even heard that these graphics are even better than DKC3's graphics.

I think the graphics are the same in the 3 games.

And oh, my opinion in music:

DKC>DKC3>DKC2

DKC's are ear catching, DKC3's are ear catching and have a dark mood in them, but DKC2's; you actually have to pay attention to it to notice it. I sometimes finish a level and suddenly notice the music change and think:"Oh yeah, there's music in the game".

EDIT: I wrote 4 games, and they're 3.

DKC>DKC2>DKC3 I don't listen to much of the DKC trilogy music. I think the only ones I liked were Bad Boss Boogie, Run, Rambi! Run!, Crocodile Cacophony, and maybe Boss Boogie and Mining Meloncholy. I like more upbeat music.

Graphics seemed all the same to me, but DKC had a better and more unique character design. The others were too cartoonish.

I think DKC2>DKC3>DKC they are all really good though. DKC3 there is just something wrong with it that lets DKC2 beat it, I think maybe it's because Kiddy and Dixie are my least favorite duet, or it could be the envirements of the game.

DKC2 has better graphics than DKC, mostly because of the realistic hair/fur. DKC3 has better graphics than DKC2, but it's harder to notice because of the more cartoony enemies.

I like DKC2>DKC>DKC3.

I never really liked DKC3's music all that much, except for those levels with sneeks on the wheels and you have to get the power up to get to the next door...

I think I liked the DKC3 music, but I don't think it was very memorable. I still get tunes from DKC2 in my head, but I can't remember how any of the DKC3 ones went.

Exactly. I could never forget masterpeices such as "Squak's Shaft", "Bramble Blast", "Rattle Battle", or any of the other songs in that game. The roller coaster levels too.
