Anyone remember Gex?

I'm on a sudden Nostalgia kick.
Gex as you might recall was a Gecko that was full of quotes from Every movie and game.

Gex: Enter the Gecko was my first entry into the Gex series. It was so funny that I still own it to this day I can't imagine giving it up.

I got Gex 3 not long after it was released and I figured that if the second one was so great this one had to be even awesomer.
And it was. A little more challenging but still more awesomer.
Does anyone have any fond memories about Gex and his games?

This probably goes somewhere else.

I love the first gex. It is literally amazing. I remember there were tons of funny quotes, but I don't remember any.

I played a demo of Gex 3, it only played on a winter part though. I got to fight an evil Santa, which is always fun....

Welcome to the only thing scarier than the IRS Headquarters.

Would Cheech and/or Chong report to the front desk?

Don't take career advice from Joe Piscopope!

Hey, I feel like I'm trapped in Boy George's pen.

There's a gecko on my tail! R2, see what you can do with it.

Wham, bam, thank you electronic man!

Like these?

That was Totally Scrooged.
Dedicated to everything Christmas.

I often wonder if Crystal Dynamics will ever bring back that funny Gecko. I think he deserves it. There's even more stuff to make fun of.
He was even Crystal Dynamics Mascot for a time.
I wonder what happened.

Yeah, he completely missed a generation(and is missing this one too!). They should bring him back for a next (next) gen return.

I was wondering Jomingo if you could perhaps bust out your drawing skills and see if you can draw what Gex might look like in this generation.
Now if only Crystal Dynamics was like Scribes. They'd answer all our questions.

I have no skills. I didn't even finish kongifying anybody other than myself. Though I might get back into drawing for a while, as I've been wanting to try my hand at a Baby Petey Piranha....

You know, I imagine a next gen Gex (Gext gen, ) would look the same as he does on his box art. I mean, that already looks next gen-ny, just make the in-game models better, have larger levels and updated wise cracks and badabing. You got a best seller.

The only problem I see is getting Dana Gould to come back and reprise his role. It costs quite the pretty penny to get someone to reprise their roles you know.

Well, he didn't even do the European versions, so I'm sure they could find a replacement if they couldn't get him. I mean, he did have a very distinct voice, but I don't think it would too hard to find someone similar to him.

Also, do you think the next one would be 2D or 3D?

As much I would love switching between the two D's I'm going to assume that Crystal Dynamics would put it in 3D.
Perhaps there would be an homage to the original Gex.
Everyone seems to be doing it these days.

Well he did do the European Version of the original but that was it.

This already looks Next-Gen for PS1.

And on a related note:

Wow, did you make that? That's fantastic! I'm not sure I like the title(I would think they'd include some clever pun/parody in there), but it looks great.

I wish.
Besides, If I had come up with that wonderful piece of art I would've chose an entirely better title.
It actually came from the Gamespot Forums.

We are not alone apparently.

"Gex 4: Gext-Gen"

How about "Gex 4: Return of the Gecko"?

That's good. Now for a plot. I figure it'd be something like Gex explaining what happened in his absence from the Video Game Market.
Just think of how long that "telethon" is for Gex now that we haven't seen him for nigh on 10 years.
And the story behind Rez is told. Is he Gex's father or not? And perhaps more character develpoment on those two buddies of his Rex and Cuz.
They felt a bit tacked on in Gex 3 and they had no backstory.

Yeah, it'd be cool to have some explanation as to why he's been gone for so long, like how Nuts and Bolts has one.

OMG I used to play this game at school! 8-)
Some guy installed the game in a computer; and everybody else browsed the computer's hard drive in the network and opened the .exe file.
Now that I think of it nobody ever copied the game to each computer

I played Gex on PSX, was pretty sweet.
I also liked Croc 2 on PSX, however, the movement could have been a little better (the game was made hard by what seemed simple jumps).
