Games with awesome jungle areas

This is something of a thread about technology immitating nature, but more specifically, jungles and forests. I've always loved exploring jungles; real ones and those in games. DKC probably encouraged this in a big way, but I've seen some other games (especially first-person shooters) with some really beautiful jungle scenery which is explorable in 3D, and is truly beautiful. I think Far Cry was one that really impressed me (screenshot), and recently I've seen graphics from a game called Crysis (by the same developers; Crytek) which are truly breathtaking. Take a look at these...

Crysis

Those are all from Crysis. I think they are incredible for in-game graphics.

A personal favourite of mine, also from Crysis:

Another great Crysis shot:

The most realistic, atmospheric, lively and beautiful jungle areas are what I'm hoping to find with this thread. Screenshots are appreciated!

Jungle areas which feature overgrown temples and other stone ruins get extra points. ;)

Maybe Crytek would be the ideal company to give DK a realistic looking 3D-platformer with a really nice jungle.

I would certainly be happy for them to do the terrain/foliage design. This stuff is simply awesome.

Edit: I even found a screenshot with bananas growing!!

Even Rare themselves never actually managed to include bananas attached to banana plants... :D

Ooh, um... the new(ish) Turok game for the Xbox 360 features some nice jungle areas.
Can't believe I can't think of anymore at the moment, lol... :P

Hmm... The only video games that have really pretty 3D jungles was Uncharted: Drake's Fortune http://blog.wired.com/games/images/drakepic.jpg, (A PS3 game by Naughty Dog who are the creators of Crash Bandicoot and the Jak and Daxter series.) and King Kong the video game. (Xbox 360 version.)

Crysis is the game with the best graphics at the moment, so I think that's the same for the jungle areas.
I wish I had a PC that would let me play this game in all its beauty.
And I insist that Crytek has to give me money to buy components to play it in high settings. Unfortunately in PC-gaming it isn't like "what you see is what you get".
F*** those good graphics, on my PC it wouldn't look any better than something like Battlefield 2, for example
It's more like "what you see is what you get if you pay 1000 Euro/Dollars + for some bad-ass graphic-cards and multicore processors" :D

Yeah, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has some great jungle scenes. Thanks for introducing me to that fact!

This is the same image Diddy_Gal linked to, but I like the idea of it being immediately visible in the thread:

Here's another great shot, showing Uncharted's lush jungle scenery.

Stone, I know what you mean. I've never had a computer with the requirements to play 'current' games... That's part of the reason I love emulation and retro gaming so much! ;)

Those are some really inspirational shots! I really need to do some more 3D Modeling. I think those jungles in crysis are bit too realistic for DKC though. But they would deffinitely still be amazing in a 3D dk game. In Turok2 there are also some pretty good jungle/ruin type environments.

I definately, definately think Uncharted's jungle scenery is the nicest. That look would be ideal for a Donkey Kong adventure.

I know this isn't jungle as such, but Fable 2 is a game with amazing woods. A style like that would be the best look for a DK game that had DKC2-style sun-dappled woods.

Very nice. ;)

This might seem odd, but I really think the jungle scenery in Lego Indiana Jones is very nice looking, too. The 'look' reminds me of King of Swing, bar the lego bits! I think they're Wii screenshots, too ( they do look possible on the Wii). A 2D platformer would look fantastic with backdrops like those.

Also! Anyone seen the Speed Tree website? It's software with in-built trees for game developers. I don't think there's any jungle species, though. Lots of mushrooms, and even a dragon tree. http://www.speedtree.com/tree_browser/index.php is the link, if you want a look! :D

Some *very* nice additions, SummerSky. All of those are new to me, thank you! :)

The Lego graphics are surprisingly lovely, and you know I have a fondness for woodlands... they are most welcome here, too.

Note: The images linked to above (gamersyde.com ones) must be viewed from the site itself, as they are 'forbidden' otherwise. Just copy the URL of the one you want to view, then visit http://images.gamersyde.com/gallery/ and paste the URL back into the URL/address bar before hitting 'enter'.

Sorry dude; I didn't realise I couldn't post direct links to the screenshots.

But those Crysis jungles do look mindblowing. You can almost feel the moisture and heat of the rainforests. Like when you go into a butterfly house!

Technology has come so far over the last ten years.
