DKC Randomized: a DKC hack idea

I don't have the necessary skills to do it, so I'm just sharing an idea I had.

I think it would be awesome if there was a tool that randomizes the level order in DKC. For example, one randomization might make so where in Kongo Jungle, you might play through Loopy Lights → Millstone Mayhem → Poison Pond → Tree Top Town → Bouncy Bonanza. I feel like this would be a great way to freshen up the game. Perhaps you could even randomize bonuses too*.


*if a bonus has an animal buddy, it could be replaced with another bonus that has the same animal buddy, just to avoid any troubles


In any case, I would definitely find a lot of joy out of it :nicework:

Isn't there already a hack that somewhat does this? Actually, on second thought, it just randomized enemies (which was still cool). This would be a neat concept.

Myself086 was working on this a while back. Personally, I find it pointless. Because of the lack of upgrades and items like in Zelda, it would just shuffle level order, not make it any harder. That is just my opinion.

I dunno, I disagree. I think the thrill of playing random levels would be awesome. I tried something similar with the available Super Mario World tools and had an absolute blast. For me, it's not about making it harder, but providing a unique experience.

I agree, if done well this could turn out to be interesting.
