Mr. X design

If you are doing this for DKCLB, then use whatever colors you want. DELTA is completely 32bit. Palette swapping effects can be applied at runtime, but it is applied to the fully-uncompressed 32bit images.

That's a relief! Initially I didn't think a custom boss would work in the Level Builder, but it sounds like a noble cause :P

Well, we will have the power of DLLs backing our custom objects, so the boss object (and its AI) could conceivably be anything you want. ;)

But nobody try to make a boss like Simion32, alright? You know, with attacks like the Ban Hammer and the Troll Skull Crusher. You wil be sued, unless you have permission, which you might not.

Phyre, the DK sprite sheet is screwed up. The image has to be pixelated (no resizing allowed).

Let me try again.... Thanks for letting me know. The Dixie one was all fuzzy at first, too...

*EDIT* I can't figure this out... for some reason it's fuzzy every time. I'm saving it as a PNG. Should I try something else?

A bit of an update... I've finished uploading the sprite sheets of Kiddy. I also decided to kinda just give up on his double rope sprites. He's just too hard to edit... and what I have is good enough. They're on the same link as before.

I still have to upload a few more edited sprites, such as Rambi swimming and the edited Kremlings.

This is rather silly and was really easy, but I was just messing around with the Kong's colours.

For most of them, I just used palettes from the other Kongs, but a few were just kind of messing around.

White, Old Timey, DK and Diddy Red, Dixie Pink, Orange, DK and Diddy yellow, Kiddy green, Kiddy blue, Diddy blue, Dixie purple

I'm working on reviving the lost 3D Trampoline Sprites (which I must create from scratch again).

I've google-gathered all the necessary images (fancy that I remembered which cowhide texture after not seeing the files for this long); I'll be doing the modeling soon.

Well I want to recreate the models for the Trampolines seen in this post over in the DKCLB custom level ideas thread:

Simion32_LostTrampolineModels.png
The lost trampoline models. They really fit into DKC, too.
Simion32_LostTrampolineModels.png (22.86 KiB) Viewed 616468 times

I lost all related files in a computer crash, and the only thing left was the images that were posted here on Atlas.

I'm using some 3D modeling software to create the (very simple) models and apply textures. It only involves making the model and applying the texture, after which I just render to a PNG file and then resize (in a pixelized manner).

Unfortunately, after rethinking I didn't have the right image but only one of the candidates I chose from the last time; it seems the actual tan hide image I was looking for no longer exists online, I may have to improvize a bit or use something else. I'm thinking of a high-quality, scratchy tan bongo-top kind of texture.

Here we go! I've recreated the texture, and done it up even better than before:

Spoiler!

I used an image of the moon to enhance the ruggedness of the bongo cowhide. :P

That's several layers compiled into one, by the way.

EDIT: I'm faster at this than I thought I was! They're already done.

Only DK (or possibly Kiddy Kong) can use trampolines, due to your player Kong needing sufficient weight to bounce on it. To use a Trampoline object you have to use a new ground pound move (taken from DK64). He will then bounce using the Barrel Cannon shooting animation.

Red one jumps about 256 pixels high, blue one jumps just below 768, gold one currently is undefined (it's new, I just made it and haven't assigned any particular use). I might make a purple one that does 512px bounces.

The Green Arrow Trampolines can bounce you any distance desired and will bounce DK such that he lands on a particular spot in the level (in the direction the arrow is pointing).

Obviously, these are mostly intended for very, very tall levels. ;)

Do you know what sound effect to use for it? You might want to use the trampoline noise in Aero the Acrobat.

You mean like the forest levels in Pac-Man World 2? Hopefully, someone doesn't mistake the gold trampoline and the DK Coin in a level, although that's a bit of a stretch.

That WOULD give the gold trampoline a job. That and help the unemployment rate go down some more.

Yes, the idea came from Pac-Man World 2. :P

I updated the above image with a purple render version and a flipped Arrow Trampoline (the lighting looks weird if you use normal bitmap flipping).

I'm thinking that the Gold one might lead to prizes of some sort. I have a special "bonus" one in mind, but it's not the golden one.

An interesting idea could be like Aero the Acrobat in that there are trampolines lining walls that you bounce up.... but maybe for a bonus, like collect the stars.

Well, I personally don't think it's that exciting... and I'm not sure how well it would work with anything, but here it is... three different versions of it...

This is the most like the actual DKCR one, and it only has 2 colours for each Kong.

This one has more hues in it, so you can actually see the Kongs more.

And I threw in GBA Kritters, GBA Klaptraps, Funky's Fishing Bitesizes, and DK64 bananas.

I have a soft spot for recolors, those look REALLY nice. I especially like those bananas. I wonder why nobody did those before?

Anyways, I finally started on the arms of that old X-ular type sprite I made a while ago (I'm a little afraid to check just how long ago  ).
Image
I recently learned how to mod Left 4 Dead 2 so that's why I haven't been active as far as finishing this guy.

EDIT: The arms are looking good. I modelled them after Kackle's arms because I imagine he'd move around like them. I really like his stance.
Image

'Nother EDIT: Arms are mapped! Now all they need is proper coloring and shading.
Image

Double EDIT: Arms have been shaded and colored. Frame 1 is complete! I still need to animate him. He needs animations for idling, throwing his hooks, being hit, and being defeated.

If you like recolours, YOU'LL LOVE THESE!
Ithe thing is, I JUST TOOK A LURCHIN FROM DKC3, GAVE IT THE WRONG PALETTE, AND CHANGED A COUPLE COLOURS, TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THE ONE FROM THE GBA VERSION!

(I just put the real Lurchins on the sheet for comparison.)

We're getting one step closer to being able to remake Pacifia in SNES style!

Man, Pacifica was the best world in 'Country 3 Advanced. Every level brought something new to the original- well, except 'Surfs Up', but it was still a fun level.

Excellent work, KK, he looks like the real deal! I can absolutely picture this sprite in use as a Stronghold Showdown adversary. I wonder, though, if maybe a semi-transparent look would suit his legless, ghost-like design?

Really nice effort. :)
