I found many of those renders unfamiliar, like the one of Diddy and Dixie riding Squawks in a Bramble level.

I don't know if you've noticed, but your links above aren't being parsed correctly — I think it's because the URL has brackets in it.

This is probably an issue with some aspect of our forum software, and I'll try to fix it, but in the meantime, try wrapping the URLs in your posts within [url][/url] tags. It might be a good idea to avoid using brackets in filenames in the future, too... but it shouldn't be an issue if you URL-tag the links as I suggested.

EDITEDIT: In the same place I saw "Kranky Kong", they mention lava levels and ship hold levels in DKL! But those are DKC2/DKL2 exclusive levels!

Big slip. Undiscovered until now . Why would they do that though? Say that DKL has lava levels. Sneaky!

Rare must have lost all the renders of the barrels! All of them are using the game's sprites.

And I find it odd how DKC2 and 3 GBA use DKC1 Barrel graphics.
Except for the + & - barrels and the check & X barrels.

What the hell is wrong with that 3DS.

The least they could do is take a picture OF THE GAME IN ACTION!

(Plus, it's a handheld, not a console)

And why is 'Kart' lowercase and 'game' capitalized?

Sorry geno. I thought it'd be fun to see the errors in it. I won't do it. Also, notice how Mario Kart DS is DS Mario kart. I'll be more careful with my scans.

One difference I spotted in those scans:

tumblr_mk5p8p1UUf1rkrwaco8_1280.jpg: Look at the topmost screenshot. The sign says "KONGS BANANA HORDE" instead of "KONG'S BANANA HOARD!" They changed it because horde usually refers to a large group of people and other intelligent living things, which doesn't really fit with fruit. Notice that the apostrophe is also missing from "KONGS."

That is interesting! Can you fix the "link"?

Hmm. That DK render is interesting...

Not only have I never seen it before, but it's in the EXACT same position as the DK render used on the DK64 cartridge!

But they DIDN'T re-use this DKC2 one for DK64, because DK64's DK renders have slightly darker and longer fur.

Seriously, it's IDENTICAL (except for the fur changes of course).



Also, that DKC1 review said Blue Ballons were not as rare as they are normally, and that Green Balloons were worth 5 lives!
It also says Poison Pond is near a Kremling Car Factory. Quick, how many cars have been seen in the DK series? (And the go-karts from DKR don't count).

Only thing I can think of is the slot car in DK64 (which coincidentally is first encountered in Frantic Factory).

I have the DK 64 Nintendo power and I ran across of a couple of interesting images.

Now, remember that this edition is for DK 64. These two images look like the models of DK used in the first DKC. I'm wondering why they would have used the old version of DK instead of the more up-to-date model with the rendered fur, rather than the bumpy texture. (Also, the bottom image appears to maybe be cut off, but it isn't. Right below this is one of those little fine print text boxes with disclaimers or whatever)

Actually... the bottom image is for sure from the original DKC... but the top one, I'm not sure. It doesn't look right to me... like maybe before they got the modeling down or something. I'm wondering when this render was made.
