Hello everyone!

Donkey Kong Country 4: The Kongs Return is a remake that mixes elements and characters of the three games released for Super Nintendo, and some new elements and stages. They are the four playable characters: Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong.

My name is Fernando, I live in Brazil
In the middle of this year I started my project DKC4
Take a look and see the likes
I want this engine out almost perfect, for the same as the original did not have
I'm doing as much as possible to make it like the original

Multimedia Fusion Developer 2? You spent 200+ dollars like I did, huh? :shock:

That said I only have the non-developer edition of the program, so any developer-only things I won't be able to examine if you were to post any project files here.

How do you expect people to edit levels, since the project file can only be edited with a 200 dollar program? Or is this going to be a standalone fan game?

A demo release would be nice! :)

I'd say go ahead with it, but I probably won't be able to help as I have my own massive DKC projects to deal with already (DKC Resource Editor, DKC Level Builder, etc).

It looks great, it looks just like DKC, the characters act normally, the physics looks perfect, and the graphics, just plane awesome, I can't wait to play it, in fact, why don't you release a beta version soon.

Hey congrats on the engine progression you've really nailed down some great functionality in it.

Keep at it, I'd love to see a beta release as already mentioned above me.

This time I added the other 3 characters in the series.
With each of its Attack and Ability
Do not missed anything (I think)
also add the engine waterways.

Another version of you guys see.
This time deployed the system of ropes and Gun Barrels
Ahh, and also the barrel collection system, but is not finished.
A lack decent engine for the barrels and making the moves for the other three characters.
I was anxious to shew what is already done.

It's looking really good so far!
Are you planning on putting animal buddies in it, too? I've been working on trying to put all of the Kongs on all of the animal buddies, if you need any help with that.
Also, what about baddies? I didn't see any!

Hello, hiperkalango. I have watched your videos before. Looking good so far! I recommend putting a Bramble Blast stage in your next video of the beta. I would love it.

Please be advised that your antivirus scanner may pick up Hiperkalango's program as a virus or malicious application. Should the unfortunate arise, you will be required to include an exclusion/exception to your antivirus program's blacklist before you can play it.

Most likely, the program contains scripts related to keylogging. Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 tracked it down and deleted it, too.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 did not report any viruses, but did report PDM.Keylogger behavior (sadly, Delta Game Engine is actually known to have this false positive too).

As a programmer I can tell you that from a game programming standpoint, some keylogging behavior in general is perfectly normal - just be sure the program isn't doing other bad things. ;)

Hiperkalango, is the beta virus-free? I'm too scared to download it because VideoViking said someone's antivirus scanner may think your program has a virus. Look at VideoViking's post on this topic.

Also, your program is getting more awesome. Keep it up!

You should add Map Screens so it will look a lot, A LOT more of DKC!

and reorganizating the Levels on Difficulty and Type of Stage (Example: World 1: Jungle, World 2: Undergrounds, World 3: Water, etc.)

Well, this boss has no name and their movements are not yet completed, it is only a preview.

Because the game's decompressor has yet to be decrypted, DKC3 data is unavailable for ripping. I am ripping the maps out myself using the SDK3 Editor, Adobe Photoshop and the Windows Prt Scrn key. It's been a long, arduous and tedious journey, but so far, the mapping has gone smoothly. I had to deal with some side effects in part to the SDK3 Editor using a decryption method that hasn't been thoroughly analyzed. On the plus side, level mapping is easier as the program only uses a default palette scheme for each level archetype.

All the individual tile maps that the SDK3 editor uses are bundled with it and each level is loaded from them, unlike the SDK2 editor which loads them from rom.

Presumably one could play with the color balance and other features of Photoshop in order to get something that looks a bit better, but it would be difficult to get something 100% correct.

There is however, a much easier way of doing ripping the maps. If you use the map compression tools for DKC3, and load an archetype in Platinum, there is an option to save the entire map as a bitmap. All you'd have to do is crop the individual levels.
