Ropey Rampage version differences.

Talk about the original Donkey Kong Country for SNES and VC.
The ports can be discussed in the DKC Ports (GBC, GBA) subforum.

Ropey Rampage version differences.

Postby Gaz » February 6th, 2012, 4:49 am

So, I was playing the SNES, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance versions of Donkey Kong Country and I realized a difference in the level between all three:

The SNES version has a thunderstorm while the Game Boy Color version is just plain nighttime, and the Game Boy Advance version lacks thunder and lightning.

P.S. I uploaded some photos for those who edit wikis (like me) on this and for proof:

Why is this? Does anyone know?

I'm guessing the GBC can't handle rain? It would of caused lag probably.

I think all the clifftop levels had rain in DKL3. Why in the world could they not have had rain here? Maybe the technology to do this wasn't invented till DKL3 came out.

Limited layer availability. The SNES forest levels have an unused foreground that couldn't be used because there are only 3 layers available. They chose more background depth over having a foreground layer.

I always thought they were rock shards falling until about a year ago. I was watching a vid on YouTube and was like "...wait, is that rain?" :D
