The Barack Obama Thread

Postby Tiptup Jr. » January 21st, 2009, 4:40 am

So now that he's officially the president, I figure we should have some place to talk about him... I skipped school (Yay!) to witness history unfold today. And it was epic.

Also, when the Obamas and Bidens were standing on the stairs waving George Bush off in the helicopter. That was cool.

I watched it at school. They cut the feed right at the copter part, though.

They put it on my school gymnasium's giant screen, and everyone in the school was watching. I couldn't hear his speech at all due to my classmates speaking loud and not paying attention. But at least I heard PART of it :( ...

I saw it, and it was fantastic. He spoke for 20 minutes and only studdered once, he had no paper to read from and he spoke clearly and passionately for the entire duration of his speech. For the first time in 8 years, we have a president who is a good public speaker...

Hey Tip, do you mean you went to DC and witnessed it?!?!? Or am I misconstrueing your words?

Obama is doomed. All the cool presidents get assassinated.

Oh, no! I watched CNN.com's Live coverage of it on my computer because our DVR was out... I kind of felt bad for my mother because she actually missed him take the presidential oath while she was out trying to get it back on. They didn't show it at my school, so my brothers and I had a little party of our own. It was fun.

Also, did anyone else see the picture of D.C. from space during the inauguration? That had to be the single largest gathering of people to a specific event in the entire universe, there were that many people.

EDIT IN REPLY TO ABOVE POST: He better not, man. We deserve this.

No, he better not. He's been in for what? 2 days? And he's already closing Guantanamo. But seriously, he better be VERY careful. There probably a lot of crazy extremist people who would love to see him dead. But yeah, I sure hope nobody kills him. I'm not American, but what happens in America certainly affects the rest of the world, and I can only see Obama being president as a positive thing.

Well, at the very least we'll have a president that doesn't make the rest of the world hate America.
