Celebrity Deaths

Postby Jomingo » August 11th, 2008, 9:37 am

This is the topic where we can discuss important deaths.

First, Bernie Mac died yesterday morning. This one came as a huge surprise to me, he was only 50. He will surely be missed by many.

Next, Isaac Hayes died today too.

Bernie Mac died? OMG!

Although, I'd like to discuss what "important" death truly means, what would classify one as being more important than others? (Not that I'm not upset that Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes died)

I mean, they were wealthier, but were they truly better people? (Not to start a debate, or anything)

Gerardo Alfaro died in 2007 :|
La Oreja isn't the same without him. He was cool.

But cancer is sad... 6 months Gera... you did all the effort 6 months because of your little daughter, but the battle was lost.

We will never miss you, Gerardo

DK4Ever, I'd classify "important deaths" as those that will catch the attention of a large group of people. My aunt died this year, that doesn't mean I'm going to mention it in this topic. It's "celebrity" deaths, so only famous people.

I don't see the mess up. Typo? Spelling? =P
By the way, when Gerardo died, many TV specials aired for a whole week, mainly showing clips from him and his career and his battle against cancer. And a little interview with his wife in La Oreja.

I still don't get it xD
I thought it was correct, usually when somebody dies you say "I will never miss you" Or... is it "I will never forget you"? I thought miss and forget were sinonims xD Well, kind of in the context, but yeah, it should've been "forget".

Forget means to not remember, and miss , in this case, means to want something that is gone.

Oh I see I have the "miss" meaning messed up.
So it's either: "We will always miss you" or "We will never forget you" right? =)

Wait, what's going on? Weren't we talking about celebrity deaths? I'm extremely confused.

Also, Heath Ledger died in January, it's already been mentioned, but I thought I'd point out, that we may never see a finer Joker..

R.I.P>, Heath, may you live on through your psychotic clown you played so well.

That was really unexpected. When my aunt called me and told me "Quick! Turn the TV on and watch CNN, Michael Jackson just died!", I was really shocked...

Too bad they died the same day, since many people didn't notice Farrah Fawcett's death. I feel really sorry for her too, because she spent 2 years battling cancer... :(

Yeah, this is almost as surprising as the time Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes both died less than a day apart. Very sad indeed.

Anyway, I believe we already have a Celebrity Death thread, so as soon as I find it I'll be merging them.

EDIT: done.

It wasn't really offensive, all said was "wouldn't it be crazy if he faked it." I know people are quite a bit more sympathetic on DKCA than in real life, but come on.

Wait and see what joke they'll crack about it on Family Guy. If what I said pissed you off, whatever is on the next Family Guy episode will really bring out your :evil:s

I have a theory, someone poisoned him and the poison gave him a heart attack, just to keep him from returning. Strange thought.

Indeed. I heard on the news some guy claimed he was the greatest African-American entertainer of all time, but I say he lost that title when he became super pasty white.

Anyway... it's only been a day and I'm already sick of hearing about this.

This news shocked and saddened me..

But isn't it funny? He got almost no respect from the majority of people for a while and suddenly; BAM! everybody loves him again.

He'll be Thrillin' people in the afterlife just like Rare Lover said.

RIP Michael Jackson.

If I remember correctly he was about to go on tour in Europe or something, it's odd how Europe still had respect for him. In America our Jr. High students never shut up about how he is a child rapist.
