To all forum users:

I am updating the forum software. Posts made in the next 20 minutes may be lost if problems occur.

I will make an announcement when the process is complete.

Thanks guys,
Qyz
Spoiler!
OLD NOTICE:
I'm going to be updating the forum software tonight (or tomorrow morning for some timezones), and adding a new feature or two. I will try to do this in a way that causes little to no downtime for the forum, and will certainly be making a backup of all topics/posts etc. before performing the update. There is no cause for concern really, I just want you all to be aware that there is substantial maintenance planned, and there is a small chance that posts made as I'm doing the update might be lost if I have to restore a backup for whatever reason.

The timer in the forum header above indicates when I'll be performing the update.

Posts made during the upgrade process may be lost, if problems occur. Hopefully nothing like that will happen!

I cannot see most user avatars. (it looks like I can just see my own avatar for some reason)
Probably those who are missing are the ones that hosted on your server Qyzbud?

I'm getting the same problem. Qyz's avatar shows for me(and I assume my own does), but none of the others do.

You probably have the image in your cache, because none show to me =S
Neither the location globe image in mini-profiles.

I had to re-upload my avatar to Atlas to get it to show up. Not sure why they disappeared. :|

This just started happening, but some of the Avatars and little globe things aren't showing up. Apparently it's a common problem.

EDIT: Ugh! Now they're there again... Nevermind.

Thanks for the reports, fellas - I think I've got those avatars and other images back where they're meant to be now. Please let me know if you notice anything else out of place.

Some of the smileys show up wierd looking when I'm posting a reply (random smilies at random times), but they never show up like that in posts.

They look like this:

Indeed. Some of those smilies are hilariously unattractive... Looks like they're being stretched by a pixel or two in height.

I'll work on a fix next time I get a chance, but that mightn't be for a while. Low priority.

The smileys now suck balls. Use the phpbb2 simeys.

Especially :( , &

I can see the globe location icon now, and the local gallery, but not the avatars uploaded to the site =/

I actually like some of the new smileys, especially the new laughing smiley. But I do miss the roundness on some of them...

I'm also having some problems viewing some of the avatars, like Joe's and Gnawzooka's. I also noticed that the avatars in the members list are gone.

EDIT: The new laughing smiley is gone... :(

There's nothing wrong with the second two.

Spoiler!
Hi guys,

Firstly, happy new year to y'all! I've been working a whole lot behind the scenes to improve the presentation and performance of the forum, so hopefully my efforts will soon be complete, and I can share what I've been working on. In the meantime, phpBB have released a forum software update, which I'll install in the next half hour or so. All went pretty smoothly last time (except for certain avatar issues...), and should be even smoother this time.

If you can't access certain features for a couple of minutes, don't fret - I'm on the case!

See you on the other side...
Qyz

He's probably talking database as in SQL database. It's not likely to be anything of particular note.

Correct!

The database update is basically just in preparation for moving the forum to a new server. Hopefully there will be no perceivable change - well, nothing negative, anyhow. My reason for posting about the update was to test that the forum's posting system was still working properly, and to let people know that if they notice anything peculiar, this update is the probable reason for it. Also, I bumped this topic so that any issues could be mentioned here, rather than new topics popping up for such reports or other conversations going off-topic.

So, basically what I'm saying is; NOTHING TO SEE HERE, FOLKS! :P
