Ok I made some changes. Adjusted the expression of DK a little,sharpened the feathers, fur refinements and and rotated the toes.

I think you should use transparent backgrounds. I can render them with alpha channels and pngs. I would much rather you use my work to the best quality possible.

It looks good to me, I just have one question... does DK have a bald patch on his thigh or is that just the way it looks? Didn't notice that. It is a bug in DK's rig. Thanks VV. This is the best I could do for now. I made the feathers more curved around the chest and less like hair. Redid the feathers. It's still not perfect. I don't have the knowledge to simulate feathers properly.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I made the wings thinner and added some custom hair/fur feather simulation. Still working on the head.

Do the feathers add or subtract from the model. Need some fresh eyes.

^ It depends. DK I used CAT to rig it then animate the rig by hand. The Zinger I did it by hand.

Here is a very very early wip of Squawks. I'm modeling it in retro style from DKC returns.

Here is Zinger. Used the DKC1 render as reference, then added some bump mapping and hair. The wings need higher res texture i think.

I was having trouble making the animations look like the gifs but I think this latest iteration might be better. I added more 'weight' to his movements and tried to have him walk on his hands a bit. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the comments. While there is great improvement, it still needs some work. It appears that he is just swinging his arms, rather than walking on his knuckles. He needs to look like he's putting more weight on his knuckles... maybe have him hunch over a little bit more? I was playing DKC ret...

Thanks for the gifs. Due to difficulty I didn't fallow the animations in all aspects...

I think the feet movement is much better this time around. There is a little sliding but no point in manually adjusting the keyframes untill I start the the main project animation.

Fixed the darkness issue, added some wonky physics to the tye, lengthened the animation, and rendered in better quality. No fur on tests.



More animations to come. 8-)

Sorry for not posting for awhile. Re-doing the hair is taking a long time. Lots of test renders(5-10min each). The hair I did in previous posts was just slapped on. It's too late... I changed the hair quite a bit. Hope you guys like it! There is lots of tweaking of the hair to get it more consistent...

Progress update. Lost a days worth of work do to a corrupted file grrr. Attatched the limbs to dk's body. Except for the head. Currently doing some rig pose tests before redoing the fur. I'm currently merging the arms legs etc to the body of DK. Will take a few days. Then I will start to model Squawks.

Perhaps Squawks carries DK through the clouds and drops him onto the island or something like that. Or I will have the bird just fly though clouds in the intro.
