Re: Non-DKC related artwork - post your masterpiece!

You serious? I love chiptunes. It's my favourite music genre.

And Stone; that's some impressive artwork there. You should vectorize them.

Re: DKC Level Mapping Project for DKC Atlas

Awright.!
And yeah, the torches look really fine to me. There are still numbered spots here and there but you probably knew that already.

EDIT: Forgot to ask, are the PNGs uploaded ran through PNGGauntlet first? It is a tool that compresses the size of PNGs vastly; even smaller that optimized GIFs.

Re: DKC Level Mapping Project for DKC Atlas

Very impressive..!
Water levels look a bit wonky though.. Are they supposed to be like that?

Re: Any recommendations for a gamepad?

I tried Darwiin remote when it came out, and it worked really well with the mouse. I don't know how the newer Darwiin versions or GlovePie work. Keep in mind that you can use the classic controller too. The only requirement is a bluetooth adapter. Macs have them built-in, I don't know about standard...

Re: Non-DKC related artwork - post your masterpiece!

I really enjoy animating, my most recent (but still very old ) Flash is Men in Green.
I'd find some of my older art if it wasn't so late.. I'll look into it in the morning.

Re: Any recommendations for a gamepad?

Wiimote works really fine for NES/some SNES games. You can use the Wiimote as a controller for mouse and other stuff like that with GlovePie (Under Windows, that is) or Darwiin remote (Under OS X)

Re: Extremely useful notes for anyone hacking DKC

Nothing that big, mainly ASCII text addresses and tilemap arrays. The latter ones are long strings of hexadecimal values that upon changing take effect on the corresponding tile of the character. Editing KAOS' tilemap would cause changes in how KAOS looks, and so on. The same format applies to just ...

Re: Extremely useful notes for anyone hacking DKC

Hey, that's pretty awesome. Now that you actually mention it, the web design is pretty fabulous. Good job. By the way, try not to quote the entire post above yours... ...and while I'm mentioning that, please read the Forum Rules if you haven't already. Sorry, won't happen again. And yeah, I read the...

Re: Extremely useful notes for anyone hacking DKC

That looks really cool..!
And the 'camera system' is already documented by Giangurgolo, in case you didn't know. No idea about the physics, though :/

Re: Extremely useful notes for anyone hacking DKC

[ quotes removed by admin ] Oh boy, can't wait! Now that you mention it, out of curiosity, would you happen to know anything of the map/submap points and paths? I remember finding an array that upon tinkering with changed the level points coordinates, but never got around documenting it further sin...

Re: Unseen Scenes (Development Discussion)

Cyclone wrote:Neat! I wonder if DKC2/3 has this kind of left over stuff.

DKC3 has all of Klubba's text in it in several languages. Pretty understandable since DKC3 was just DKC2 on steroids, but still an interesting leftover.

Re: Extremely useful notes for anyone hacking DKC

[ quote removed by admin ] Oh? They've never failed me.. I must be lucky to not use the addresses that are incorrect, even though I've gone through most. But yeah, glad to see them get some attention. I hate seeing ROM Hacking documents not being used. :) EDIT: I'd be more than glad to help if you ...

Giangurgolo's DKC Rom Documents (renamed topic)

Can't believe how upon searching I only got one result of 'Giangurgolo'.

Around 2006 a fellow named Giangurgolo did a fantastic job gathering notes of DKC and how it works. The documents are available in his site.

Get hacking 'yall.

Re: DKC Mapping Project for DKC Atlas

Didn't read the whole thread, but if it helps, Maxim from VGMaps.com did a level extractor that upon specifying a tileset file to creates a PNG of the level. We already extracted Jungle Hijinxs successfully with the tileset banks I ripped. It works on all levels just as long as the tileset files are...
