Re: Donkey Kong Country 4!!! begin ;)

I was thinking it might be cool to have something like Super Mario World's top secret area where you can pick an animal buddy to bring into a stage you've beaten already. Maybe it's a zoo or something and you have to find or complete things in certain levels to "unlock" them? That way you ...

Re: DKC-related animations

It is his wrist, actually. Not too bad, if I do say so myself. Now to find hands that'll work on it. I may edit his back flippers as he brings them back toward the body as well so they bend against the water. EDIT: On closer inspection, I might rotate the legs a tad as he kicks out. There's no force...

Phyre, here's my layout for the arm position. I'm not sure how it would look animated. Would you mind giving it a shot for me? I want to make sure the placement is close before I start pasting hands on. ;)

Of course. That's what most people call me. :P Yeah, in my head I've been thinking of ways to expand the buddies while making them unique and balanced. That'd be good. Like Rush in Megaman 7. It could be a good alternative to DK's slap that uncovers items, but it can find better things potentially.

Re: DKC-related animations

Died you change the frames or just the delay? The thing to keep in mind is that he's literally pushing the water behind him to propel himself. They should come up to his face (like they do) and then continue their circular motion smoothly to get the push in there. I'd illustrate what I mean, but im ...

Re: Sprite editing/animating suggestions

Hmm, I think Expresso was removed because Dixie could do what he did and Squawks became fully aerial. Expresso's new niche could be some kind of attack. Squawks for the egg projectile too. Hmm... I'd balance him by making him immune to icy floors so his traction doesn't suffer and having some kind o...

Re: Donkey Kong Country 4!!! begin ;)

With a tongue attack Winky would just be Yoshi. :p
I don't think it's such a bad thing to innovate. Otherwise Winky and Rattly are the same buddy. Besides, Rambi and Squawks both changed between games depending on what was needed. Innovation isn't bad if it's a natural progression of the character.

Re: Donkey Kong Country 4!!! begin ;)

It's all about balance. Rambi was changed between games and nobody complained. It could be something like; Rambi-same as DKC 2. Expresso- same as 1? Winky - same as 1 but with new horizontal charge jump and the ability to swim but not attack while in water. Maybe he's faster than Enguarde, but more ...

If Winky can swim underwater but not attack, and maybe gets a horizontal charge jump as opposed to Rattly's vertical, that would make him interesting.
