The Winged Cap : Funny, we have the same birthday... and DKL on the VC wasn't released, at least not yet. It's announced for Japan's 3DS VC , and it will come out on Ap...

Donkey Kong Land to appear in Japan's 3DS Virtual Console!!

Some people may know that the DKC games used to be on the Wii Virtual Console, but were pulled late in 2012 for no explicable reason. There was speculation that it had something to do with Rare being owned by Microsoft. Well, it appears that this isn't the reason, as the first DKL will appear on the...

Re: The Random Thoughts Topic

I noticed the misspelling of Dixie Kong within less than a minute of playing the Japanese version for the first time (which was early in 2007, over 7 years ago). Then again, the cartridge also misspells "trademark" as "tradmark". I guess whoever was responsible for the Japanese v...

Re: The music in the original trailer

Well, it turns out that it is used, just not in the first level. I just unlocked 2-K Bopopolis, and it is used there. The Time Attack & Leaderboard thread

Various Donkey Kong games have had some sort of a Time Attack feature, but as some people know, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze introduces a leaderboard for Time Attack, so you can find out how well your best time stacks against other people in the world. You can see the top 8 times in the worl...

The music in the original trailer

There's something that I just realized, and it's bugging me... in the original trailer for this game, there was music that was basically a remix of Chase from the GBA version of Donkey Kong Country 3 (which in turn is a remix of DK Island Swing from the original DKC). Here is the video of this trail...

Re: DKC Atlas Level Mapping Project: BIG DKC3 UPDATE!

I felt like bringing a few things up... first, while I know that maps of the DKL series are a lower priority than the DKC series, the boss maps for the first DKL are already on the site -- for example, the Wild Sting Fling map can be found here . So, it shouldn't be much work to get the DKC boss map...

Donkey Kong Land 2 / III - Backup save restoration bug

In both Donkey Kong Land 2 and Donkey Kong Land III, it is possible, but rare (no pun intended), to see corrupt save files when playing either game. This post will explain why this happens. Naturally, cartridges are not perfect (I don't think any sort of hardware is, for that matter), and they are s...

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

The Cranky revelation is interesting, to say the least. He's rarely been a playable character in the DK series -- the only two times that I can think of where he has been playable is in the 2003 Diddy Kong Pilot prototype (as an unlockable character) and in the Cranky's Dojo minigame in DKC3 GBA. Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!

It would be like Super Mario Bros. 4 without Bowser You have clearly never played Super Mario Bros. 2, then, since it doesn't have Bowser. So, by your logic, it's bad because it's different. Makes a lot of sense. So DKCR and DKC:TF don't have Kremlings. This "flaw" (I wouldn't call it tha...
