1st timeBy getting
the sixth balloon in any of the races, you open up the boss world. In this
one you challenge a triceratops to a race up a spiral mountain path. He`ll
step on you if you get to close to him. Giant boulders will fall down the
hill to obstuct your path, as will falling stone pillars. The key to success
here is to get the early jump, and then locate the secret mountain shortcut.
Get the starting power boost to get the lead, then grab all the blue turbos
along the way to keep that lead and win. Hug the left-hand side of the wall.
If you stray too far to the right, the boss will pass you. Of course,
collecting red balloons is smart too-just in case the boss tries to pass
you. Pick these up and shoot him at close range. Just remember, if you fall
to for behind the boss, your history.
2nd time
By defeating the boss the second time, you are rewarded with a piece of the
Wizpig amulet; however, this is no easy matter. It takes several practice
tries to get it right, and good driving. To ensure a win, you must make
no mistakes... period. You`ll find the boss is faster this time, and a lot
meaner. He`ll drop stone pillars in your path, step on you with much less
abandon, and constantly stay on you tail if you get ahead. To combat these
unthinkable racing atrocities, you simply must do one thing: always stay
ahead of him. And, of course, use the mountain shortcut. It is possible,
however, to beat him without the shortcut. First, you can`t get ahead of
him unless you`ve gotten the first power boost at the starting line. Get
that and then pick up the next two power boosts, both of witch will be red
(rockets). Don`t just run over them, pick them up by skimming by there sides,
so you can stay as close to the left hand-wall as possible. By doing so, you`ll
drive a meaner, faster race. Really. Once you`ve mastered this technique,
the obstacles the boss throws your way are eliminated, and it makes for a
clean, more even race. Once past this initial close encounter, stick close
to the left-hand wall and pick up the blue power-ups. The biggest obstacle
now is simply your own racing skills. Can you avoid hitting trees and rocks?
Avoid hitting them, and you`re on your way. Use a simple accelerate and brake
technique to get around the steeper, sharper turns, but try not to use the
sharp turn technique, it`ll slow you down and hamper your progress. The last
obstacle in your way is a giant dip about 3/4 the way up the hill. Two
power-ups rest in the dip-a blue and a red balloon. Pick up the blue balloon,
then hit it just as you near the top, clearing the path for your win. The
boss will then hand you a piece of the Wizpig amulet, witch is different
then the T.T. amulet. The trophy race area is now accessible. |
1st time This boss is
not that interesting to race, and his course is a stait shot with no shortcuts.
The best way to beat him is to stay as close to the center of the course as
possible. In other words, don`t make any fancy turns, don`t try to get all
the balloons (there aren`t that many anyway), and use as few tricks as
possible. He is easy and slow the first time you race him, so practice on
this easy win so that when you come back you`ll take him right away. Just
like the other worlds, you`ll need to return to the courses to get eight
silver coins in each, and then return to the boss.
2nd time
The best way to beat the walrus the second time is to race
as stait as possible without getting distacted by balloons and other bonuses.
Why? Because there are very few power-ups, your opponent is much faster than
the previous time and your on the most difficult vehicle, the hovercraft.
Use the starting line to get ahead of the walrus, though this won`t last for
long-you must see the turbo start to get this right. Heading into the first
tunnel he`ll overtake you, but don`t worry. Just make sure to turn ahead of
the inner-tunnel turns. That is, make your turn before the turns themselves
so you don`t crash into the walls in the tunnel. Nab the blue balloon after
a medium jump, and again at the opening of a giant snowball course. As soon
as you get the turbo, use it to avoid the snowballs and pass the walrus. You
should enter the tunnel in first place. It`s okay if you don`t just make sure
to stay on his tail, so to speak. In the last stretch a red rocket or two are
easily accessible without turning too far from the center of the course. Grab
one, wait until the walrus is about 20 feet from the finish line, then aim and
hit him. Pass him for the win. This race takes practice, so don`t get
discouraged if you can`t take first place right away. |
1st timeThe octopus
boss is tough, but there are a few tricks to help you defeat him. First off,
stay away from his weapons(mines the first race, bubbles the second)- both
slow you down to a complete stop. The way to avoid them is to use the sharp
turn technique, the R(drift) button, and occasioally the brake independently.
Another nifty trick is to use the sandy walls of the course-to not only avoid
them, but to pass the boss as well! In the first few seconds, after you get
your turbo start, veer to the right of the octopus. He`ll anticipate you
following him and will drop mines and bubbles in you way. Stay behing him,
avoiding the weapons, and collect two red balloons on little islands before
and after the tunnel. The best trick to beating him is to get homing missiles
and slow him down. The other trick is to use the inside shoulders of the
course to move faster!(The hovercraft moves faster on land than in water.)
After two shots and two turbos-without getting hit by mines-you should be ahead
and take the win.
2nd timeAs you alredy know
with bosses, the second time around is always harder. This time, the octopus
lays bubbles, a far worse fate then mines could ever be. In this race, all the
same principles that helped you win the first race-staying clear of bubbles
or mines, using the inside shoulders to increase your speed, and using
the combination of homing missiles and then turbos-are still valid pieces of
advice. This time, however, there are more bubbles then they were mines, and
so you`ll have to make wider turns along the outside areas, and obtain
power-ups as often as possible. |
1st timeThe dragon
boss is the coolest looking boss and you finally get to race him in a plane.
Beating this boss requires patience, great navigation skills, and a exellent
knowledge of the course. Knowing the first part of the couse is important due
to its swervy nature, which is made even more treacherous because of the
dragon`s deadly breath clouds. In the beginning, stay to the right and on the
tail of the dragon. Look for a series of columns that enable you to travel
on the right side of the first set of tunnels, and otsid of the dragons
clouds. Red balloons float there, and you want them bad! Grabthe two in
consecutive areas, and then wait until the time is right. If you keep up with
the dragon, your time to peg him comes when you reach an outside area with
a windmill. As soon as you see it, use the homing missile to slow down the
dragon. Then race through the hole in the windmill which, oddly enough, has
a blue balloon in it. You`ll not only slow the dragon, but you will speed up
as well! Performing this trick is almost good enough to get into first place-
in fact, it will be in the first challenge the dragon presents you. But not
the second time around.
2nd timeIn you`re
second meeting with Mr.Dragon, he`ll present you with far more breath clouds
and will beat his old reptilian wings much faster. You must preform a few more
tricks to beat him this time. After the second set of tunnels, you`ll find
no less than two blue balloons hidden amongst the trees. Grab them and use
them ASAP in the outer areas to catch up. Unfortunatly, the second time around
with the dragon, if you fall to far behind him, you might as well stop and
restart the race. Beating him the second time allows for no mistakes. Remember,
the biggest priorities are to make sure you hit him with all three of your
homing missiles on each lap, grab all the turbo balloons you can, stay on the
right side of the path in the beginning, and use the windmill turbo for the
last ounce of speed. When you finally win, it won`t be by much. This guy is
tough! When you defeat the dragon, you`ll have collected the final piece of
the Wizpig Amulet. You can now fight Wizpig! |
1st timeTo beat Wizpig
you have to race him many, many times. This race takes place on a brand new
course that`s completly bare of power-ups. The only thing to help the course
is a set of six zippers, which are tricky to manage at best. You`re really
going to have to rely on your own driving skills at this bout. As you
probably know by now, two of the fastest racers are Pipsy and Tip-Tup. I
used Pipsy because she`s got great handling and is super-fast. Switch to
either of these two characters before racing Wizpig. Beating Wizpig is VERY
difficult, and shoudn`t be approached lightly. The hard and fast rules are
these: Hit every zipper, stay on the main course, and don`t give up. By
remembering these little rules, you`ll have the patience to beat Wizpig.
Remember, it`s do-able! As the race begins, you`ll notice that it`s raining,
obscuring your vision. Wizpig, himself, will get in your way, too, which is
distracting. Focus on the course, not him. Use your turbo start as late as
possible at the starting line. Wizpig will catch up to you and hopefully
he will kick you ahead. This should happen over the log bridge. The first
zipper appears on your right, just after the log bridge. Let up the
accelerator and let the zipper do its work. The second zipper will apear on
a long strech of wood that bends to the right. The third zipper is on of the
hardest to get. It`s located just after the second one, but is on the far
left and angled to the right. You`ll have to practice hitting this just right
to propel your kart onto the sandy shoulder at the right angle, without falling
into the water. The forth zipper is on the first set of narrow islands. It`ll
appear on the right. You must approach it by angling your vehicle slightly
to the left, because the next zipper is absolutly crutial to hit. If you miss
it, you`ll need to start over. Angle to the left a little when going though
number four; you`ll see number five at the end of the sandy strip. Swing
slightly to the right when passing through it and it`ll help you pass over
three giat berms of sand(as well as dithes of water in between them). If
done correctly, you`ll bounce over each one, and should be tailing Wizpig.
The final zipper is just ahead on the left. After experiencing the first lap,
you will then have to preform the same act two more times. Remember that Wizpig
is faster than you, so don`t lose hope it he`s always ahead of you. But if
he`s to far ahead just start over. Stay on the main course-getting stuck in
water on hitting a tree means you need to start over. Stick in there. Most
races you`ll be behind all the way, until the end, when the last zipper gives
you the win.
2nd timeThis course seems impossible
for the first TEN times, but it can be beaten. Get your standand turbo boost
at the begining and zoom ahead of Wizpig. He`ll catch up soon, but don`t worry
about him. You need to worry about boulders, lazers, and arches in your way.
Take the first left turn and then immediatly press R, making you plane nearly
vertical. Pass through some stalactites in your path, then swoop down and grab
a few red balloons underneath the arches. This area will seem a bit easier
when you go under the arches and learn to stay to the left side. After the
arches and you`re flying over water, fly over the statue of Wizpigs nose,
get the blue balloon and use it to zoom into the tunnel. You should be
a tiny bit in front if you didn`t crash or get hit by things. The tunnel is
critical to your success. Wizpig is big and and get bogged down in the tunnel
and will actually get hit by a lazer once and slow down. You, however, will
be able to avoid the lazers and narrow rock columns that make the tunnel even
more treacherous. Learning how to navigate through here just takes practice,
and a good knowledge of the plane. The sharp turn technique isn`t as useful
as just simply using R to maneuver around obstacles. Another cool thing about
the tunnel is the plethora of power-ups to collect-ranging from invulnerabillity
to turbos to missiles. The end of the tunnel means total chaos. It opens
into a full hideout out crazy enemy forces flying around trying to shoot you.
A circus of enemy spaceships and flying lazer beams that could cost you the
race if you get hit to much! The answer? Simply get the yellow balloon in
front of the entrance and than press R and make a quick turn into the door!
When you`re out the other side turn left and pick up a blue balloon and then
quickly get back onto the course and use it. If you`re behind Wizpig on the
second lap but can still see him, your still in the race. If you are behind
him and can`t see him, start over. When you beat Wizpig the second time you
will open up adventure two, which is a full adventure with all mirror courses.
A noticeable difference is the gold balloons are now silver. |
